DIN and ANSI: what is the difference?

Difference between DIN and ANSI flanges

DIN and ANSI are both flange standards, but they differ in terms of dimensions and pressure classification:

  • DIN (ISO/EN) uses DN and PN (millimeters and bar)
  • ANSI uses inch sizes and Class pressure classes

Because bolt patterns and pitch circles differ, DIN and ANSI flanges are generally not interchangeable. The center heights of the suction and discharge connections relative to the mounting surface also often differ.

This often leads to the assumption that replacing a pump automatically requires major modifications to the installation, resulting in additional costs and downtime.

ARBO thinks along with you: ANSI at the customer's request

At ARBO, we believe that a pump should never be an obstacle to an efficient solution.

That is why we can also supply our pumps (at the customer's request) with ANSI connections, possibly combined with special filling blocks and adapters.

This often allows existing ANSI installations to be retained without costly modifications to piping or flange connections.

After all, thinking along with you and providing customized engineering is our specialty.

What are the benefits for you as a customer?

An ARBO pump with ANSI connection offers immediate and tangible benefits:

  • Lower investment costs: Fewer (or no) modifications to piping and flange connections.
  • Faster replacement: Shorter installation time and less on-site engineering.
  • Less downtime: Your installation is back up and running faster.
  • Easier transition to ARBO: The connection is no longer a barrier to choosing an alternative brand.
  • Better availability of components: Because the pump is built according to ISO and uses IEC motors, shaft sizes, bearings, and couplings are based on millimeters and are therefore more readily available locally, even outside the US and Canada.

In summary

DIN ISO is the standard at ARBO, but if your project requires it, we can engineer and supply your pump with ANSI connections.

This ensures that the pump fits into your existing installation without unnecessary costs or conversion work.
